# POLLACK, Mihály [View the canonical artist record]() ## Artist - Lifespan: 1773–1855 - Profession: architect - School: Hungarian ## Biography Hungarian architect of Austrian descent. He was a key figure of Neoclassical architecture in Hungary. His main work is the Hungarian National Museum \(1837-46\). In about 1793 he moved to Milan to his half-brother, the architect Leopold Pollack. In 1798 moved to Pest, where in 1808 took a leading role in the city's Beautification Commission, and became increasingly influential. Between 1810 and 1830 he designed many residential buildings, later larger palaces and public buildings.
