# JAPPELLI, Giuseppe [View the canonical artist record]() ## Artist - Lifespan: 1783–1852 - Profession: architect - School: Italian ## Biography Italian architect and engineer. He was a Neoclassical architect and a romantic landscape gardener. He studied at the Clementine Academy in Bologna and he was a pupil of Giovanni Antonio Selva \(1751-1819\). In 1836-37, he traveled to France and England, an experience that would be formative on his career as a park architect. His best-known work is the Caffè Pedrocchi in Padua. Among his other projects are several buildings in Padua: the Macello \(slaughterhouse, 1821\), University city \(1824\), prison \(1822\), Teatro Verdi \(1847\).
