## Biography

Italian architect and engineer. He was a Neoclassical architect and a romantic landscape gardener. He studied at the Clementine Academy in Bologna and he was a pupil of Giovanni Antonio Selva \(1751-1819\). In 1836-37, he traveled to France and England, an experience that would be formative on his career as a park architect. His best-known work is the Caffè Pedrocchi in Padua. Among his other projects are several buildings in Padua: the Macello \(slaughterhouse, 1821\), University city \(1824\), prison \(1822\), Teatro Verdi \(1847\). Furthermore, he executed several projects including parks around Padua: Villa Valmarana, Saonara; Villa Selvatico-Capodilista, Rivella; Grand Hotel Orologio in Abano Terme.
