## Biography

Austrian painter and draughtsman, son of a glass painter. In his father&#39;s workshop, Hampel learned about design, material and technique. Studying the old masters at the Vienna Academy of Art under August Eisenmenger \(1830-1907\) and Heinrich von Angeli \(1840-1925\), the artist quickly acquired a delicate colouring and improved his technical skills. From 1900 to 1911, he was a member of the Hagenbund, an artists&#39; association in Vienna.
