## Biography

French sculptor. He was born at Bar-sur-Aube in 1825, his parents were Italian. His teacher was Rude. He won his first medals at the Salons of 1848 and 1849, and was appointed a Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1874. He produced a great number of busts of celebrated persons, Sardou, Massé, Gounod, Augier, and Croizette being the subjects of his best work in that form. He executed the statues of &#34;Le Reveil,&#34; &#34;La Foi,&#34; &#34;Andromede,&#34; &#34;La Mort du Commandant Baroche an Bourget,&#34; and other famous statues of France.
