# DELAVALLÉE, Henri [View the canonical artist record]() ## Artist - Lifespan: 1862–1943 - Profession: painter - School: French ## Biography French painter and printmaker. After university studies at the Sorbopnne, he studied at the college of art in Paris. In 1881 he visited Pont-Aven, where in 1886 he joined the group of artists influenced by Gauguin , especially Émile Bernard. He painted impressionist, synthetist and occasionally pointillist paintings, but mainly worked as a graphic artist. In 1890 he exhibited at Durand-Ruel's. In 1891-1901 he visited Turkey, and he became a successful landscape and portrait painter.
