# WITDOECK, Jan [View the canonical artist record]() ## Artist - Lifespan: 1615–? - Profession: graphic artist - School: Flemish ## Biography Jan \(Hans\) Witdoeck, Flemish engraver, draughtsman and dealer. He was a pupil of the engraver Lucas Vorsterman in 1630-31 and a year later was registered as engraver and dealer in Antwerp's Guild of St Luke. He worked with the painter Cornelis Schut I until 1635 and made many engravings after Schut's work. From 1635 Witdoeck worked for Rubens, the last of the reproductive engravers to work for the great master. After Rubens's death in 1640, Witdoeck probably devoted most of his time to dealing.
