## Commentary

Eight Satyrs Admiring the Anamorphosis of an Elephant c. 1625 Red chalk Hessisches Landesmuseum, Darmstadt The drawing shows astonished satyrs \(representing lack of culture\) examining an enormous cylinder on the table: what had been a sort of flat map is anamorphically reflected as an elephant.
