# Goldenes Rössel [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [UNKNOWN GOLDSMITH, French]() - Date: 1401-1450 - Technique: Gold and enamel, height 89 cm ## Commentary Goldenes Rössel c. 1400 Gold and enamel, height 89 cm Collegiate Church, Altötting The Goldenes Rössel \(Little Golden Horse\), made of gold and precious gems, is the work of a Parisian goldsmith. It was presumably a New Year's gift for Charles VI from Queen Isabel in 1404. Above a subchamber that serves as a stage, the Madonna and Child with angels are enframed in an arbour of golden latticework adorned with pearls and other gems.
