## Commentary

The print shows the portrait of the painter and engraver, Georg Kilian; half-length, turned to the left, in the process of drawing the coat of arms of his ancestor, Bartholomäus Kilian the Elder. The print was executed after a painting of 1729 by Georg Desmarées \(1697-1776\).
