# Rape of Proserpina [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [DÜRER, Albrecht]() - Date: 1501-1550 - Technique: Etching, 393 x 230 mm ## Commentary This etching shows Pluto, powerful god of the underworld, abducting Proserpina, daughter of Ceres \(Greek Demeter\), the goddess of harvest and fertility.
