# Plaque with a Landscape [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [UNKNOWN POTTER, Dutch]() - Date: 1651-1700 - Technique: Tin-glazed earthenware, 26 x 24 cm ## Commentary Many of the extant seventeenth-century Delftware plaques with Western-style decoration date from the 1650s and 1660s. Some must have been framed, others have holes for hanging. In inventories of household effects these plaques are referred to as "porcelain paintings." Indeed, once framed, they looked like paintings.
