# Alexander the Great and Thalestris [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [GHISOLFI, Giovanni]() - Date: 1651-1700 - Technique: Oil on canvas, 92 x 130 cm ## Commentary The rare subject depicts Thalestris, queen of the Amazons, arriving at Alexander's camp in Hyrcania with the intention, later realised, of conceiving his child.
