# Vanitas Still-Life \(detail\) [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [GHEYN, Jacob de II]() - Date: 1551-1600 - Technique: Oil on wood ## Commentary The coins depicted at the bottom of the composition on the sill between the vases were used as currency in the Netherlands about 1600.
