# The Damned Being Cast into Hell [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [FRANCKEN, Frans II]() - Date: 1601-1650 - Technique: Oil on oak, 47 x 32 cm ## Commentary The Damned Being Cast into Hell by Frans Francken II is the companion piece of the <A onclick="return OpenOther\('/html/f/francken/hierony2/lastjudg.html'\)" HREF="/html/f/francken/hierony2/lastjudg.html">Last Judgment by Hieronymus Francken II.</A> Frans II and Hieronymus II were brothers, they were taught by their uncle Hieronymus I at the same time. This explains the similarity of their hand.
