## Commentary

This is a pastoral landscape with herdsmen before Roman ruins, two fishermen and their catch in the foreground. Like most of Ryckaert&#39;s work, this picture is strongly influenced by Paulus Bril, via the latter&#39;s prints, and those paintings which reached Antwerp from Rome.
