## Commentary

This Venus has been associated with Raphael&#39;s frescoes of the Loggia di Psyche and was considered a figure study for one of the unrealised lunettes. In fact, the classical nude, clearly evoking the posture of Aphrodite of Knidos by Praxiteles, may be related to the Loggia only by virtue of its subject.
