## Commentary

Tino di Camaino died in 1337, but his style remained an active force for many years after his death, and his tombs had a decisive influence on later Neapolitan sepulchral monuments. The most notable of these is the tomb of King Robert of Anjou in Santa Chiara, executed by two Tuscan sculptors, Giovanni and Pacio da Firenze about 1345. This tomb has as its model the Mary of Hungary monument of Tino, and it is from this work that the pigmented sarcophagus, with its seated figures beneath Gothic canopies, the angels drawing curtains and the figurated lunette derive.
