# The Mailcoach at Louveciennes [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [PISSARRO, Camille]() - Date: 1851-1900 - Technique: Oil on canvas, 26 x 36 cm ## Commentary Pissarro took the motifs for his landscape paintings from the country areas in which he mainly lived, in Louveciennes, in Pontoise, in Auvers-sur-Oise, or in Eragny-sur-Epte. His village scenes often show the road leading into the town. Houses, walls, or hedges line the streets, people walk along, and trees line the sides of the road.
