## Commentary

As the Old Sang, So Pipe the Young is a Dutch proverb referring to children&#39;s propensity to imitate the behaviour of their parents. Jacob Jordaens &lt;A onclick=&#34;return OpenOther\(&#39;/html/j/jordaens/1/oldsang.html&#39;\)&#34; HREF=&#34;/html/j/jordaens/1/oldsang.html&#34;&gt;depicted the proverb&lt;/A&gt; in 1638 in a painting that was subsequently engraved by Schelte Adamsz. Bolswert.
