## Commentary

The two female servants with the dog are typical secondary figures, used time and again by Tiepolo in numerous works to enrich the main action. The special way in which the faces have been rendered impresses here. The one to the fore is in half shadow, the one behind brilliantly lit, thus creating a spatial gradation.
