## Commentary

There is almost no detail depicted in the interior of the tavern where this group of peasants are shown drinking and enjoying themselves. The peasants are colourful, picturesque characters who with their coarse clothes have been grouped to make an effective composition. The painting is signed below on the stone bench: J Molenaer.
