## Commentary

During the seventeenth century the school of Madrid, lead by the inspired Velázquez and Cano, developed a number of other lesser, but still interesting painters. One of them is José Antolinez, a pupil of Francesco Ricci, son of an Italian painter who arrived in Spain to work on the decoration of the Escorial.
