## Commentary

In this portrait, shown at the Royal Academy in 1814, the poet appears as one of the century&#39;s first honorary Orientals, wearing an outfit of the Albanian Arnaout tribe that he had bought in Epirus in 1809. The painting is a copy by the artist from his painting of 1813.
