# Interior view [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [ARCHITECT, Dutch]() - Date: 1801-1850 - Technique: Photo ## Commentary Neo-Gothic motifs were used to inject a Romantic mood into the rather cool and sober Neoclassical style in the Netherlands. Example in this movement can be seen in the Gothic hall in the Kneuterdijk Palace in The Hague. Later this Romantic concept architecture gained wide acceptance, though it largely concentrated on the adoption of Romanesque elements. Together with the interplay of Baroque forms and motifs from the Renaissance, this finally led to the rise of international Historicism. The photo shows the Gothic Hall of the Kneuterdijk Palace.
