# Heracles and the Hydra [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [ALGARDI, Alessandro]() - Date: 1601-1650 - Technique: Bronze, height 32 cm ## Commentary Algardi, the distinguished baroque sculptor was commissioned by restoring several antique sculptures, among them a group of Heracles and the Hydra \(presently in the Museo Capitolino in Rome\). Later he executed several versions of the same subject.
