# Christ and the Virgin Enthroned with Six Saints [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [GIOVANNI DA MILANO]() - Date: 1301-1350 - Technique: Egg tempera on wood, 46 x 34 cm ## Commentary The saints in the lower part of the panel are \(from left to right\) St John the Baptist, wearing a pink cloak over his camel-hair tunic and carrying an unfurled scroll; a bishop saint in a blue cope, holding a red book; St Lawrence, carrying the grill on which he was tortured and a martyr's palm; St Catherine in a red dress and wearing a crown, carrying a martyr's palm and holding the wheel on which she was tortured; St Clare, carrying a red book; and St Lucy, carrying a jar with a flame, and a martyr's palm, and wearing a gold hairband.
