## Commentary

In June 1881 Hippolyte Fortin has invited Goeneutte to accompany him in Normandy, in regions near the estuary of the Seine. Goeneutte, happy to leave Paris, will paint seascapes like the present painting. The painting is signed and dated lower left: Norbert Goeneutte Honfleur, 1881.
