## Commentary

The façade of San Zeno at Verona was carved with a delicacy of line and a monumentality which have prompted art historians to seek stylistic analogies in southwestern France and northern Spain. The splay statues fit with the utmost elegance into the pattern of set-offs and colonettes on the façade.
