## Commentary

The Place de l&#39;Étoile \(renamed in 1970 as Place Charles de Gaulle\) is a large road junction in Paris, France, the meeting point of twelve straight avenues including the Champs-Élysées. The Arc de Triomphe stands at its centre. It was one of the main areas of Baron Haussmann&#39;s activities.
