# Angel \(1\) [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [FRANCESCO DI GIORGIO MARTINI]() - Date: 1451-1500 - Technique: Bronze, height 125 cm ## Commentary In 1495 two bronze angels holding cornucopia, serving as candelabra at the two sides of the high altar in the Siena Cathedral, were commissioned from Francesco di Giorgio Martini. The picture shows the left angel, superior in conception. It is uniquely depicted as though just alighting, its wings in the process of folding.
