## Commentary

The plate represents a scene drawn from an episode of Genesis \(26:8\), illustrated in a &lt;A onclick=&#34;return OpenOther\(&#39;/html/r/raphael/5roma/4/4isaac.html&#39;\)&#34; HREF=&#34;/html/r/raphael/5roma/4/4isaac.html&#34;&gt;fresco by Raphael&#39;s workshop&lt;/A&gt; in the Vatican: Abimelech spying on Isaac and Rebecca. The decoration displays the arms of Isabella d&#39;Este Gonzaga, Marchesa of Mantua \(1474-1539\).
