## Artwork

- Artist: [MICHELE PANNONIO](<https://beta.wga.hu/artists/michele-pannonio-r8b1a10ab104f34>)
- Date: 1401-1450
- Technique: Tempera on panel, 116 x 42 cm \(each\)

## Commentary

These two panels were originally part of a polyptych. A third picture from the same altarpiece, representing St Anthony of Padua, is in a private collection in Milan. The polyptych was probably made for the monastery of Santo Spirito in Ferrara, where many celebrations were held in honour of St Bernardino after his canonization in 1450.
