## Commentary

The painting represents Siamese lambs. The inscription on the stone, below left, records that the animal had two of almost all its organ. Painted by Bartolomeo Bimbi for Grand Duke Cosimo III de&#39; Medici, the picture is evidence of the lively scientific interest of the Medici court for the animal world and for botany.
