# Alceste mourante [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [PEYRON, Jean-François-Pierre]() - Date: 1751-1800 - Technique: Oil on canvas, 327 x 325 cm ## Commentary Peyron's Alceste mourante was much admired at the Salon of 1785, three years after the painter had returned from Rome.
