## Commentary

The Martyrdom of St Catherine of Alexandria c. 1617 Oil on canvas, 157 x 207,5 cm Museo de Bellas Artes, Bilbao The attribution to Castelló is debated. Formerly the painting was attributed to Francisco Ribalta, later Gregorio Bausá was mentioned as possible author. However, presently the authorship of Castelló is accepted by the majority of scholars.
