## Commentary

Grimani Breviary: The Month of June 1510s Manuscript \(Ms. lat. I 99\), 280 x 215 mm Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana, Venice In June the peasants are shown busily at work in the fields. Working in the fields is hard and far from remunerative. The peasant has tattered trews and the women are shoeless. In the background is a veiled landscape with a river and a fairy-tale city.
