# Triptych of Abbot Antonius Tsgrooten [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [WEYDEN, Goswijn van der]() - Date: 1501-1550 - Technique: Oil on panel, 33,7 x 25,2 cm \(central panel\), 34 x 11 cm \(each side panel\) ## Commentary Rogier's grandson, Goossen van der Weyden was also a painter who ran a large studio. The bill for the Triptych of Abbot Antonius Tsgrooten painted in 1507 still survives, so that we can be sure that it is the work of Goossen van der Weyden. The abbot probably commissioned this little triptych for his private quarters. He is shown kneeling on the right-hand panel, in the presence of the Virgin Mary.
