## Commentary

Madonna and Child with the Infant St John c. 1515 Oil on panel, 32 x 24 cm Szépmûvészeti Múzeum, Budapest The landscape in the background, and the mysteriousness of the expressions remind us that like so many other works in Lombardy during the first half of the 16th century, this painting could have never been created without the artist being thoroughly familiar with Leonardo&#39;s Madonna of the Rocks.
