## Commentary

This oil painting is on the ceiling of one of the rooms adjacent to the Sala d&#39;Ercole on the ground floor of the Palazzo Marucelli-Fenzi. It depicts Amor Virtutis, Nobilitas, Honor, and the Arts Cast Ignorantia down into Orcus. The painting shows Ricci&#39;s fondness for falling young bodies in bold foreshortening. The plunging figure can be identified from his ass&#39;s ears as Ignorantia.
