## Commentary

Cabinet c. 1675 Oak with other sorts of wood, 189 x 129 x 59 cm Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam For many years this cabinet was thought to have been made by Pierre Gole \(c. 1620-1684\). It is now attributed to André-Charles Boulle. The cabinet is richly decorated with elegant marquetry: pieces of fine veneer of contrasting woods and other materials cut into tiny pieces and arranged to form a pattern. The cabinet was made between 1670 and 1680 at the Parisian court. It is probably an early piece by André Charles Boulle who worked for King Louis XIV of France.
