# Descent into Limbo [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [LORENZETTI, Pietro]() - Date: 1301-1350 - Technique: Fresco ## Commentary The picture shows the first of the scenes representing events after the death of Christ painted by Pietro Lorenzetti in the south arm of the western transept of the Lower Church. It is located on the left side of the arch, above the Deposition.
