# Mausoleum of Mary Burgundy [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [UNKNOWN MASTER, Flemish]() - Date: 1501-1550 - Technique: Bronze ## Commentary Mary of Burgundy \(1457-1482\) was the daughter of Charles the Bold \(1433-1477\) by Isabella of Bourbon. At 19 years of age she married the irascible Maximilian of Austria. Her accidental death at the age of 25 took place while out hunting with a falcon. The Gothic mausoleum, finished in 1502, was erected by her husband. It was executed by Jan Borman, Renier van Thienen, Jan Hervey and Pieter de Beckere.
