## Commentary

Though long considered to be by Antonello da Messina, this painting is in fact a copy of the &lt;A onclick=&#34;return OpenOther\(&#39;/html/a/antonell/virgin\_a.html&#39;\)&#34; href=&#34;/html/a/antonell/virgin\_a.html&#34;&gt;Virgin Annunciate by the master,&lt;/A&gt; de Saliba&#39;s uncle, now in the Galleria Nazionale in Palermo.
