## Commentary

The painting depicts a view of a regatta on the Grand Canal in Venice looking towards the Rialto Bridge, with the Palazzo Balbi to the left. The composition corresponds closely to a drawing in the British Museum by Francesco Guardi, Giacomo&#39;s father. It is likely the painting has been executed while Francesco was still alive, while father and son were working closely together in the studio.
