Portrait of a Gentleman in Moroccan Dress c. 1735 Oil on canvas, 92 x 72 cm Private collection The painting shows the portrait of a gentleman in Moroccan dress. A possible identification for the sitter is John Montagu, 2nd Duke of Montagu \(1690-1749\). Montagu was one of the most cultured and enlightened men of his age.
