# Central portal of west façade [View the canonical artwork record]() ## Artwork - Artist: [MAITANI, Lorenzo]() - Date: 1301-1350 - Technique: Stone, bronze sculpture, mosaics ## Commentary Maitani's principal architectural achievement was the façade of the cathedral at Orveto. The fact that he was also involved in producing sculpture there, apparently by his own hand, is attested by documents.
