## Commentary

In addition to paintings rhythmically characterized by textile patterns, and as typical of so many of his Munich colleagues, Strathmann also executed satirical cartoons. The picture shows the cover of the art and literature magazine &#34;Jugend&#34;, issue no. 49/1896.
