## Commentary

This illustration is from the printed book &#34;Habiti delle donne venetiane&#34; \(Costumes of Venetian Women\), published in Venice. The book consists of twenty numbered plates of ornately attired women engraved by Giacomo Franco, each accompanied by a description in Latin and Italian.
