## Commentary

This octagonal snuff-box features eleven miniatures representing the Royal Châteaux and gardens. The miniatures are attributed to Louis-Nicolas van Blarenberghe \(1716-1794\), one of the artists who won immense fame in this particular area of artistry. The box is attributed to the goldsmith Jean-Joseph Barrière \(1763-1793\).
