## Commentary

This depiction of the Virgin still adheres to a relatively rigid scheme dating from the late medieval period. Apparently a &lt;A onclick=&#34;return OpenOther\(&#39;/html/d/durer/2/13/4/087.html&#39;\)&#34; HREF=&#34;/html/d/durer/2/13/4/087.html&#34;&gt;copper engraving by Albrecht Dürer,&lt;/A&gt; dated 1518, served as the model for Memberger&#39;s composition of the Virgin enthroned.
